The Tale of Genji in the Collection of Venice Oriental Museum

Is about to conclude the exhibition on Genji Monogatari (The Tale of Genji), the work considered the first novel in the history of world literature, written in Japan exactly a thousand years ago by an aristocratic lady known as Murasaki Shikibu.

Until Nov. 9 at the Museum of Oriental Art in Ca' Pesaro, one of countless fascinating palaces of Venice, you can admire an exhibition of over 40 works characterized by considerable refinement and linked to the figure of Genji, gallant prince which the novel tells the life filled with numerous and intricate sentimental stories.
